Our Story

Our resort in Varkala beach opened its doors in August 2007 by the hands of Jayan Rajan, and since then, is open all year round, receiving guests from all over the world.
Sonia joined the Shiva Garden Team in January 2010 for 3 months, and in January 2012, up to the present day.

Shiva Garden is a homestay with a warm familiar ambiance in Varkala situated in the North Cliff just three minutes’ walk from the beach.

Shiva Garden offers a private entrance to the Garden and is an ideal destination for families and backpackers. From the resort’s garden you can enjoy a luxuriant green from all the trees, plants and local wild life that lives in this garden. Worthy of an inspiring song or painting.

We are located in South India, Kerala (God’s Own Country), Varkala beach, one of the Top 10 beaches in India, rated 3rd place by Tourists, and one of the First 30 Tour Destinations in the Planet, rated 28th place among the 100 top ‘Best Value Index’ around the globe.
The main beach is Papanasam beach. The word Papanasam means washing away sins. The legend says, that to take a dip in the waters of Papanasam Beach washes away all the sins in one’s life.
Shiva Garden Home Stay is located 5 min. walking distance from Papanasam beach, 10 min by rickshaw from Varkala town and 20 min from the picturesque Backwaters.
